I have owned this 56 since 1990 and been playing with it ever since. Have been thinking of some wide whites/steel wheels to change it up...less of hotrod and more period correct if there is such a thing...Joe
yes I am Joe. never thought I would do another one from the ground up, but my friends at the body shop changed my mind.
I'm doing a 62 C-10 that I thought I would not do a frame off but one thing led to another....I posted some build pictures in an album since I haven't started a build thread...Joe
hood is getting fitted and ready to do very light amount of body work. this is probably the cleanest one I've seen. was very lucky to get it.
yea, it's good to be back at it. I'm working on the bed sides now. no sides or patches made for this fleetside. it's a 2 year bed only, and that really sucks. apacheben, it's a lokar and they have a longer one than that.
Yep, had the same issue with mine. I had to replace the lower 2" or so all along the inside perimeter and build a new rear sill (which is available new but I fixed mine) and the front header panel needed about 5" of the bottom replaced. I hope you don't have to do the outsides of the bed but I think I saw patch panels for them somewhere. A ton of welding but they sure look cool when they are finished. Anyone can buy a narrow kit... Good luck! Mike
Mike, I bought the rear sill and front panel for mine. the bedsides are solid but needed a lot of metal work. still doing work on them.
subscribed.... yours is coming along great.. making great progress and I too love the orange. my 58 Apache,, it's getting there
That's how I was going to do mine. Now I can copy your tech. What hinge mechanism are you going to use? Seems like a natural place to put one on the side. I was going to use the magnetic cabinet-type latch so you push it in to open and push it in to close. Pretty simple. p.s. Love the wheels!
