I love Lee's '58.... and the '40, as well! I'd have a really hard time picking a favorite between two, but would have to lean more towards the '58.... it's just perfect! Malcolm
I have always like the '58 Chevy's When I was learning to drive my aunt had a '58 with a 283 bare bones hot rod. Lee's car is over the top Beautiful. HRP
When you wrote about the Shoebox, in one photo, the 58 can be seen in the background ,it caught my eye immediately and I thought "forget the shoebox, lets see the 58!" So I wake up this morning, power up the H.A.M.B and lo and behold, there's a write-up on the 58. Man, what a great way to start the day.
"That's all it was going to be -- a top and an interior." -Rodder's Journal #24 (Or something like that...my copy is 600+ miles away.) I've always dug this one. Nice analysis, Ryan.
No doubt the man has style, design sense par excelance, and some notoriously beautiful rides, but one more Pratt post' in quick succession may qualify for "Man Crush Status", just sayin' He IS kinda' dreamy, though!
For you guys that have never seen it in person......the lace and flake are great. Sorry my pic isn't as good as John's, but you get the idea. I love everything about this car. (hope this makes up for my comment about Lee's shoebox )
Lee did drive the '40 to south Kansas City back in May for an "open house" event......@Ryan, you should have tagged along in your Model A coupe. Chris
I have a soft spot for 58 chevrolets...and his is one of my favorites @Ryan any links to his artwork? I'm curious to see his work. Him being an artist explains why his cars always look so right.
Lee drove the '58 up to Baltimore for our first TRJ Revival in 2012 (this shot was taken leaving Pimlico). Seeing it in my rearview creeping through the city under the lights at night was so bitchin'. He drove the shoebox up last year, and I heard a rumor he's driving his Nomad up for this year's show. That man puts some miles on his cars.
'58 Chevy's are in that elite group, that rolled off the assembly line as a factory custom. Wire rims are icing on the proverbial cake. First few shots emediately reminded me of Troy Pavia's Lost America photos. http://lostamerica.com/galleries-2/ Nicely done!! Latest issue of The Rodders Journal gave me a new insight into Lee's brand of perfection. Thank you for elaborating, into these other two very fine rides. As a Florida resident, no points would be deducted for the modern a/c system, in his Impala. Nice to have some comfort whilst cruising the boulevard. JT
The 58 Impala is one of my bucket list cars but their value is growing faster than my disposable income.
I have never been a big Chevy guy, but '58's have always been a big exception and this one is so cool. It is elegant in a very simple way. The interior is incredible and that engine is perfect. Love the whole package.
LOVE all of Lees' cars but this one just does it for me. When u ran the pics of the shoebox last week all I could see was the 58 in the background. Without a doubt one of my all time favorites ever. Maybe my favorite period. Thanks for sharing the pics Ryan.
