I'm glad I did not have to make a choice. I could have spent all weekend and still not arrived at an absolute favorite or even 10 or 15 as Mick (Stray Kat Kustoms) said.

Dan, please slow down a bit and R-E-A-D the posts...Mick of SK500 (straykatkustoms) fame said he could not narrow it down, NOT Dr. Dave...

Oops! I meant Mick. That's what happens from trying to concentrate on a whole bunch of things at the same time.

Chuck is a great guy and I am happy to call him a friend. I met him when he was an Representative at large with the Kustoms of America. Now I see him usually once or twice a year. He has some cool cars.

Your last 3 photos really make me wish I had made the trip. They're all jaw-droppers. The 48 Dodge should be the Webster's Dictionary example of a fat fendered car. I own a 39 Standard Ford; so I'm fond of them. I have all the trim sitting in the garage; trying to decide whether to put it back on or display it on the garage wall. And finally the 56 Lincoln; JUST WOW!

Thanks Caddy-O and Herb. Also consider this - there are a lot of great cars I am not showing because I could not get good shots of them.

  16. Nice to see so much kandy, shiny paint and clean chrome. Not a sea of rust and tired paint. E

Hey 40STUDEDUDE, Doug Thompson didn't own the String of Pearls. That car was owned by Jack Walker and Tim Savage from Belton, Mo. The car was built in Raymore, Mo by Doug Thompson. Pete and Jakes built the chassis for the car. It looks as good today as it did when it was built. Doug Thompson worked on quite a few cars in this area.

I remember when that car was built. It still looks good today. Doug worked on a number of cars back then. I checked with several sources before I posted the information. Jerry Slover told me that he had to shorten the chassis that he built for that car in the middle of the build. It was good to see that the car was a survivor.

Thanks for that info Herb. Do you know who the current owner of the car (String of Pearls) is?
Thank you very much 58cchevy! I will for sure be at KKOA.

Here is someone's 1949-50(?) Ford near dusk behind the event hotel.
