Official, 2014 Antique Nationals will be in Fontana Ca. Back to full 1/4 mile racing. Blow off the dust and clean out the pipes!!
I went out the the "open house" at the strip last month..... It's a great facility and I will be there covering the event for all you folks that can't be there....!!!!!!!!!!! Can't Wait!
Let's get some of those four bangers signing up for the race. Anything pre-1954 can enter, if you pass inspection race. Inspection is pretty easy, but seat belts are required. Helmets for open cars and fast cars, and bring one just in case. two springs for the throttle and a catch can for the radiator. Faster classes have more restrictions, but most know the drill. If you don't want to run, you can park and enter in the car show as well. always a good time.
Thought you might get a kick out of seeing this pre-Antique Nationals poster on my garage wall. Check out the pre 34 cut off date !
Test drove my Willys today after changing the ft axle, steering box, new kingpins and shortblock. Everything seems ok and I can't wait!
Any info on why the 32 3window hit the wall? The annouser said the driver was OK. The car was a mess.
Denny is sore, but OK. The coupe is probably a total. Frame is bent and the left side is gone. Could not get closer than this for pictures. He's lucky. head on into the wall at over 130 could have been much worse.
I felt bad to not only hear that my friend Dennis crashed, but also my good friend Larry crashed his beautiful Sedan delivery.I haven't been on the track since it reopened, but I understand that there have been some Issues at the finish line/ shut down area at almost every race since.
My good friend Dennis is ok., but car is Bad, I watched as car went up on two wheels from left to right, then into wall, He thinks tire blew.
Is this the same Larry that does lettering/pinstriping ? The yellow, Chevy sedan delivery ? Hope Larry and the car aren't hurt too bad. Also too bad about the grey/silver 32. It was a nice car also. I was going to go, but got busy with my own cars at home. Mike
I didn't see Larry's crash. Damn shame. That delivery was his high school ride. He worked on restoring it for years when he got it back. Larry isn't a high dollar guy. If he gets the car going again, it will take years.
Damn, not good. Um...anyone know if the broken rear Halibrand "caused" the crash or was just a casulty of the crash ? The reason I ask is, I've got two cars with mag. Halibrands with slicks... Thanks for the picture Speedy. Mike
