Folks Of Interest 1937 Hudson Coupe Find

If I remember correctly, the slide out bed is a rare accessory to find fully intact and usable nowadays. Awesome car, good to see another one coming back to life.

I spoke with the town of Ayer, Mass and they are going to run the vin number for us to hopefully determined who owned the car so we can (hopefully) find some history.

what a great find! beautiful cars and like you said; not likely to see another at a show.

if it were me, I'd have a real hard time deciding which car had to go between an A coupe and a '50 Plymouth...

 

I believe that once you drive it , you won't have trouble deciding the Plymouth needs a new home.
They drive and stop very well.
I had one many years , see it in my avatar.
The family out grew the car , otherwise it would still be in my garage.
Much rather hammer out dents than weld in new metal.
It's called a Terraplane utility coupe , little brother to Hudson.
It has a shorter wheel base , the cowl area is shorter , I think 6"
Bubba55 posted a Hudson coupe , note the belt line trim.
Nice find , very fun car. You can surprise many 36-38 Fords
if it's running right.

I hope you keep it as I said earlier on the Hudson Forum. Its a rare model and everything is available to restore. I can understand the economics though.

 

If we keep it; it likely won't remain 100% stock as it needs to be made economical to drive on the highway and be somewhat reliable. We shall see; no real plans to do anything dramatic yet.

 

The Good news is that it went for a drive around the block last night and the headlights are now working (it does need a headlight switch) but it's driving around

My first car ride, new born baby, was in one of these. My Father later wrecked it and went to the Hudson dealer and bought new parts. 1950 !!

 

that's pretty sweet elba! Received the title today. Last registered owner was a James J Larkin of Leominster, Mass (purchased it in 1993. A quick google search of him he is in his early 70s. If anyone in the northern mass area knows him; please PM me. Interested in the history of this car.

Try 3M imperial hand glaze, its a very mild polishing finishing compound, I've brought back some very dead paint with it, just applying it by hand, if it shows promise you can step up to a buffer. Love the car, keep the updates coming.

The diaphragm on the fuel pump bit the dust last night. Wanted to drive it around so bad! If anyone knows a source for hudson parts send us their way. Want to make it safe to drive: brakes etc

 

Welcome to the Hudson world. I sold my Model A to buy my Hudson. They are an interesting company, and very stylish.
