  4. Rick, are you still doing something at the LARS swap meet area? Did I miss that post or have I already forgotten it?

There are a lot of us that have your number........................................We just haven't called you yet...............................................

  7. Rick-
Are you planning to do the same swap meet deal as last year? I know that Pete always gets the same area by the trees. I'm going to try and make the So-Cal open house, along with Bobby's, but I might get stuck at work. I will be at the show on Saturday, though. I have had a busy, crazy year to say the least. I'll fill you in when I see you either on Friday or Saturday. I understand that you'll be "fostering" a certain artist for the weekend. I paid a visit to him when I was in Phoenix a few days ago, and to say that he was excited about this weekend would be a HUGE understatement.

As with all foster children, there are rules. Sometimes you just have to give them back so you don't damage your own children.:)
I am planning on being in the same vicinity as last year but it all depends on the space available.
I'll be at Bobby's Friday night.

  9. We're getting there Thursday evening, so we should be damn hungry by Saturday!
Looking forward to seeing you & Pete. Yes I have your number, so to speak.

  10. Be careful of this particular foster child. He could be a bad mentor to your son and his art school studies. He'll influence him to a point where he will only want to draw cars and motorcycles, and have no interest in buildings, landscapes, and fruit bowls, LOL.

I just texted him. He's on the I-10, heading west.

  14. The show was awesome, as always. It was great to catch up with everyone. Rick even gave me a ride in the Sedan, and I still haven't wiped that silly grin off of my face!!

    Alex-
It was my pleasure to to give you the ride.

It was great to see so many people I have met from the HAMB and a large group that contributed to the Sedan project.
The friendships that have been formed far outweigh the fun I have driving the Sedan(not really):D.

I have started some traditions with a couple of groups that I would recommend to the younger guys out there. If you really want to get to know people, break bread with them. That's when their true character is shown and conversations become real.

I was fortunate enough to do that with Jack (jackandeuces), Tommy and Fred from Virginia. I also was able to meet up with the boys from Utah, Mick (lurker mick) and Mike, Jerry and Dale Hammond, who as you should already know, owns the original E&B body. Great guys all of them and I am lucky to have met them.

On another note, my family went a little out of our comfort zone and hosted at our home some young guys from Arizona( I guess Jimmy Smith aka Jeem really isn't that young but his buddies are) . It turned out to be a treat for us get to know some of the younger guys in our hobby. Jimmy, Jonathan and Brian, thanks for hanging out and sharing your time with us.

One last note. I was leaving Bobby Walden's and while walking to the Sedan I saw this guy taking a lot of pictures from just about every angle. As I approached, he paused and in a heavy British accent said he was from England and asked if I would take a picture of him standing in front of the car. Naturally, I said,"NO". He look startled at my refusal. I then said, "I will take one of you sitting in the Sedan". He had the biggest grin on his face while I took his picture and only wish I had that picture to post here.

Don't forget the guy in that really nice white Vicky that came up to us is the parking lot at the end of the day. This guy was so happy to get a picture of the car, and Rick made the "sit in the sedan and I'll take your picture" offer, and this guy was so taken aback that he couldn't bring himself to do it. Many of us were influenced by this car ,and seeing this guy's reverence for the Sedan brought it all home to me. He had a very nice Vicky, he was from out of state (Utah or Arizona, if I recall), and he knew quite a few details about the car's history. That was really cool, and it made his day to snap a few pics of the Sedan and shoot the breeze for a few.

Good to see ya Rick! Sorry I missed you Alex. I was hearding around a small flock of first timers to the show, so I was trying not to stop at every booth and talk too long... Screwed the pooch on that one!

  18. Been there, done that! I used to enjoy taking first-timers to the Pomona Swap Meet and watching their reactions. It got to the point where I wasn't seeing enough stuff because the new guys would stop at EVERY swap meet space. ALL spaces, including the ones with the snake oil salesman selling the miracle wax, the miracle oil, and the guy selling the welding rods that he swears can fuse metal and wood together.

Freakin' awesome Jeem!!! One thing though.... Did your head actually go 360 degrees during the filming of that clip? I mean, I know you are of questionable bone structure and such, but...

Wouldn't anybodies head do a 360 riding in the EnB sedan?! I stopped short at spewing pea soup.

  25. I still want to know how you did it. It felt like I was riding in the sedan through the eyes of an OWL!
