If I didn't just buy a new house I'd have the truck and trailer loaded and headed to Roscoe Illinois.... Guess I'll have to continue building my Stude with the inspiration of yours! Thank you!

Another vote for Phil Harris at Fairborn Studebaker. Got me out of a jamb or to and knows my Avanti R2 very well.

Spent the last two days at the giant Pate Swap meet at the Texas Motor Speedway and came home with this 8-foot tall Studebaker reproduction sign. Got it from a guy how makes them out of Oklahoma City, top quality piece.

StudeChoppedNov98lorez.jpg StudeatStPaul98.jpg A couple of my Studes, was in street-Bonneville mode. "1953 B/GCC" was street beater, whacked the other 6", no cut to windshield, used '58 Olds roof and rear window. Chopped one is still up in Wisc., for sale, I think.

$1500 a lot of money for an optional engine in a $2000 car lol.

I have the Tom McCahill road test of the Studillac. He mentions that in addition to a brand new Cadillac engine you got a bigger rad, Mercury transmission and rear axle and numerous other alterations, including taking the car apart and putting it back together the way it should have come from the factory (apparently Studebaker quality control was not the greatest).

The Studillac was dynamite in 1953 - 54. Remember the Corvette was a six cylinder car, the T bird was not out yet, and the typical English sports car had a little 4 cylinder. You had to buy a Jaguar or Ferrari to come close to the Studillac performance and they were not exactly housebroken.

Speaking of Studebakers does anyone else remember the picture of the 58 Studebaker Lark with the guy beside it in a teddy bear suit? I thought it was a riot but don't have a clue how to find it.

I have never owned one, lubed quite a few, worked on many of them and did a lot of road testing. I worked at the Studebaker-Packhard dealership in Santa Ana thru High School. Actually ran the parts dept. one summer (small dealership one guy in parts), Belmont San Chez lived a few miles away. I kept a small stock of Chev. to Packard trans adaptors under my work bench for those that were interested. An interesting note, the Packard dealer in town who lost his dealership to the one where I worked was lucky enough to be appointed a Edsel Dealer.

I dug out the scanner and enlarged these slides of Dad's '59 Scotsman, which I'm currently brining back to life. Apparently these were taken at the SDC Western Canada Meet, in '75...

  28. I absolutely love these Lark 2 dr wagons. Wish I could find one.

  29. That first car looks like Pro Mod Studebaker. Needs a hat injector sticking out of the hood and perhaps the number of the local AA. ;)

Going to be a slick old car if anyone ever finishes it.
