Will the 1994 engines crankshaft holes in the back of the crank line up with the holes in the flywheel that was made between 1987 and 1992?

The crank seal switch was in 1987.

I believe that it will bolt up, but am not sure if everything else is equal. I will check when I get home.

The 1994 flywheel should work, but will not accept the 10-1/2" clutch.

That year had an 11" clutch.

Have you thought about how you are going to actuate this clutch?

Now when you are saying the 1994 flywheel will fit you don't mean the 1994 flywheel that I already have do you? I looked at the application for that summit clutch that you forwarded me and it said that it would accept a 10.4 clutch? hmmm? Take a look.

Aftermarket flywheels often have multiple pressure plate patterns drilled in them. Factory ones do not.

Also, count the teeth on that 1994 flywheel.

The seal change was in late '86. I just say '87, to make sure.

There cannot be one flywheel that fits 1985-1992.

E88128 does not show the counterweight that is present on one-piece seal flywheels.

    F88130 shows the weight.

The one-piece seal engines are externally balanced, by that counterweight that you see above.

All of this is NOT TO BE CONFUSED with NCF88282.

Which is a flywheel for a T56 pull clutch. Not the similar look to the T5 flywheel , but the totally different thickness. Shown below, T56 above T5.

Well, mostly. From service work in that period, I can say that GM was not too clean in the changeover.

It often feels like they found an engine block/crank/short-block in a back room, or on a shelf, that they missed, and decided to toss it in.

I have seen several 1986 Camaros and Firebirds, with their original engine, that had two-piece seal cranks/blocks, both manual and automatic.

This is why I always say 1987-1992. Cuts down on the angry internet tough-guys.

Now this is making sense. Man great resource and info here! Thanks for the link too. I am going to check on a price here in Canada and see where I am at there. They do look similar but are definitely different went you see both of them together. Jay

I can't believe how those two flywheels look so similar! Half an inch would make a difference if I had used it... lolololol

Yup. Not sure that you would be able to get the bellhousing on over the pressure plate, or get the clutch to release, if you did.

I used all astro van parts when i did mine, but i used an 11" clutch disc.
may have to cruise threw rockauto.com for a while till you find a 10.5" disc with the right spline count.

maybe this (AMS AUTOMOTIVE Part # 04054): Flywheel Spec: FLAT; Use Kit (04-054) when converting a 4 or 6 cylinder engine to a small block V-8 using the OE 1" x 14 spline transmission.
