I have a 52' mercury two door hardtop no post and the body flexes really bad when turning and the passenger door will swing open. I've adjusted the door and the door catch at least a couple dozen times and it never stays closed. Is there any way to fix this easily? Do I need to weld in braces? I'm at a loss at this point. Thanks

Sounds to me like you might have a bigger problem like major body structural rust or a frame issue.

There's no rust anywhere on the body or frame and what kind of frame problem could there be?

Maybe loose or broken body mounts ? By the way your car is NOT a uni body car.
I assure you it has a full frame under it.

You could have a body mount rubber that has collapsed under the B-post. The latch/ striker could be worn out.

A 52 Mercury is not a unibody, it has a full frame under it. I would replace the door strikers and latches, check the hinges too (there might be a bunch of slop in them).

I know it's not a uni body that was supposed to be posted in a different thread
