    :) Thanks Guys-

I have a shed that I'm going to be working on this summer that'll be my new shop- but man... its so nice working in the garage and the ease of communication- or just working on things in short bursts of time- sometimes I feel like adding onto my garage two stalls out in front!

Hit us up this Summer if you'd like any help. I'd love to see the cars you are building. Our shop is just down the road from Memory Lanes. You should stop in if you are in MPLS.

knocked out the bearing and seal in the end of my shortened torq tube- Just need to relocate the mount for the bones and then I can finish blast and epoxy- put the new bearing in and install it.

Rebuilding the juice brakes- got everything blasted and one wheel cyl kit in- the next is right behind it but ran out of time this weekend. I have a zinc plating setup I'm going to plate all the springs and hardware for inside the backing plate.

Scored this bitchin ammco #3000 brake lathe and plan on turning my own drums. I'm going to get a flywheel attachment for it too for surfacing flywheels=- lightening flywheels-

Should be able to relieve my buick drums on this for my roadster as well! :)

I got a valve grinder from this same guy- old industrial black and decker- its rad. Going to pick up a HALL valve seat grinder as well. I'm hoping to practice on a set of hemi heads or one of my flathead blocks this summer.

    I love old tools!

I downloaded the manual for the ammco and everything is there- and it has the step by step to mount hubs- hubless drums etc etc- so rad.

attached a pic of the truck drums blasted, cleaned, primed and painted- then turned on the ammco. Ready to go---->

I have a couple days left of teaching and then its on...

I'm really excited about this summer because I'm going to start making real strides on the shop. Going to get it wired and pour concrete among other things... I can't wait. I got some new tools to add to it as well- a 20 ton full power press is one of them (drop axles)

I scored a few items for the pickup-

I wanted to find an early y-block intake and valve covers. I tried buying a Edmunds intake on ebay but kept getting outbid of what I wanted to spend.... and then at the last swap in the cities a guy had one- just like this----> came with 4 carbs and a couple extra fuel pumps!
    891366_630308330378952_322422729_n.jpg

Then Titus posted these in the classifieds- so rad I just had to get them!

    10375608_754448707909486_1187889465_n.jpg

So Tony T from Detroit has these setup on his y-block with a horne manifold.... coolest damn thing I've ever seen... I just stare at it hypnotized by the radness of it...
    10358201_647252508685424_878877869_nl.jpg
Is this not the coolest thing you've ever seen... complete with headers made by Sandy Belond??? Intake by Jot Horne- Carb tops by Gene Scott??? rad town.

Then I came across some hedders by Hedman from Kenny- next best thing to Belond! I needed center dump exhaust because the rear dump manifolds I have get in the way of the firewall. I was thinking about getting some ram horn truck manifolds but these are way cooler. I'm going to make jig and duplicate them.

I looked at these and pictured in my head these Siamese pipes coming off the headers and curving back under the truck and combining into one pipe just below the firewall. Yeah? seriously... yeah!!!

    Somewhat unrelated but related...

In the high school we build everything to do sand casting- the furnace, the tools, mixed our own green sand.

I started to build a home foundry last night- Just to do some small runs of stuff for fun because its pointless to teach this stuff if you're not into it- meaning excited about it... kids can see right through you.

I'm building my foundry furnace a little bigger and improving on what we learned at school. The one we made was based on a 5 gallon can..,. and we get things hot enough- hot enough to turn the refractory into glaze- so that's over 4500 degrees.

I bought a Stewart Warner Navigator panel from Jeff Peterson and decided to make a pattern of it. I want one for my truck and my 34 ford- I have blue face gauges to fill this up-
    891352_237681033094257_136172417_ng.jpg

This is the pattern I made-
    927322_242041595993014_1884776037_n.jpg

I have over 40 hours in this pattern so far... seems crazy but there is a lot of block sanding and detail work- this is the second round of surfacer - almost done! I'm going to sand cast some pedals for my truck too- and a couple other easier items like a fuel block and maybe a valley pan for the yblock that goes along with the crazy valve covers... :)

And to touch base on our baby :) Maple Rae is the cutest thing on earth! Best thing we've ever made thus far- :)

So that's about it for an update... been super busy-

    Can't wait for summer :)

  20. This thing kicks ass!

We met at Iola over by bobs booth Friday night shortly after bob and I got pulled over...hah!

Just now got around to checking out your stuff. Those valve covers are so cool, I can't believe they kicked around in the classifieds for as long as they did!

    Looking forward to following along!

All the pieces are falling into place for you, Tuck. Home, work, shop, wife, baby. Life is good.

As a Metal Shop teacher myself, I know what you mean when you talk about the kids buying into the teacher's enthusiasm.

That engine is peachy, but the front axle..... WoooWeeee.... Go man go. If you want to sell copies of that gauge panel, I'm in for one.
