  5. I have always liked those trucks. They were kind of the pickup version of a55-57 Chevy car in my younger years...not to mentipn remember riding around with my father in his 66 pickup

Freshly painted "CHEVROLET" letters on my ole orange crate today... Didn't want to use vinyl so I made my own masking template.

got the front disc conversion / drop complete. Went 2 1/2" spindle and one inch spring. The front stockers were already sagging so it only measured 2 1/2" total drop. I love the rake. Going to keep the rear the way it is and not lower the rear. A little more bleeding and a front end alignment and it should be back on the road within a week.

    I have my 63 back!

Wheels powdercoated / TH350 Transmission / lowered 3" front, 5" rear / new tires / the interior painted, carpeted and upholstered in Mexico / the outside colorsanded and polished / all new exhaust / engine powerwashed / all leaks fixed / a bunch of new suspension components / major brake job / new windshield / all felts and anti-rattles replaced / new wing, windshield and rear window gaskets / amp, sub and speakers setup for playing music on my phone / pinstripes inside the cab / stockie caps

The work was done at Car Connection in San Diego. Champions in TJ did the interior and the striping was done by Rudy Alvarado. I used Truck and Car Shop for allot of the parts.

This was the way I bought it... about 2 months ago. It was not running. It was a great find though.. super rust free and at some point a 350 from a 70 Chevelle was put in. While the work was done, the motor was opened up - very clean - no internal work needed. Just a bunch of leaks!

Future plans - upgrade the brakes with a booster and dual master cylinder / seatbelts (soon) / air shocks for the days that it's reminded that it's a truck / paint and detail under the hood / re-core the heater... and of course: DRIVE IT!

Thanks Louie at Car Connection, Rudy and my Dad.

Looks awesome Joe. Interior is spot on. I really dig the pin stripes on the knee knocker. Enjoy!

  16. Working on my bed wood and getting ready to put the short fleet back together.

Might someone refresh my memory on how the four rod braces on the short fleet side are to be installed between the sills and the lower edge of the bed sides?

    If my memory serves:
    1. Cross-sill's get installed with the brace-rod bolt holes facing forward (toward the cab).
    2. Brace-rod goes inside the sill's channel to the mounting bolt hole.
    3. Brace-rod then gets bolted to the bed-side at the lower edge.

Thanks - it's been a while since I had the bed together and I'm just not able to remember.

Just thought I would wake up the thread a bit. Got my rear shocks on, front end aligned, white letters out, and driven about 2000 miles. Needs a clutch and a carb rebuild but I am having too much fun just driving the truck to take it back off the road. IMG_0517.JPG IMG_0514.JPG

Now it has nittos tires all around. I play with all the Subaru kids and my brothers mustang buddies. Just don't ask me to turn.

  21. They look cool.

Finally got the gate pretty well ironed out and installed.

  24. THANKS Silverado! It was worth all the work to bring it back from being shaved and smoothed at some point.

Working on the back half wiring and lighting now - trying to restore what I have and skip the re-pop route.

    peace - bob

  26. Just visited my first car, 1000 miles from where I live now. Makes me sad. parked it in about 91. Uncle borrowed the wheels and tires off of it back in the mid 90s, near the time a horse took out the driver's mirror. Not sure it's worth saving at this point - that's the pretty side. Kansas is not nice to old farm trucks.

I'm not usually into super low pickups but you've done a tastefully beautiful job. Details?
