Knew where there were a couple early Econolines parked for years... went back this year to see if I could buy them and they were gone. Damn crushers. I'd love to build one with a 302, or an early Dodge with a stroker small block.

  7. This is as tacky and gaudy as they got in the 70's, but oh my, look at that Austin Coil built blown Hemi. This was posted on justacarguy blog recently. Sorry, to anyone if it is not acceptable, but it does show how outrageous they became. Back to traditional hot rodding now.;)

Yep. Slant 6 automatic. Got it fairly cheap cause the tops caved in and some other damage. Spent 5 minutes and popped out about 75% of it. Guy didn't think it could be fixed so he was selling it as a parts van. I intend on fixing it and driving it someday. Relatively rust free. 03-02-15 004.jpg 03-02-15 003.jpg

    Rod,
I love what you did with yours. Using yours as an inspiration for mine.

That one is going to take some work, but you can do it!
If you want to see the structure of the roof seam, take a look at my thread on the 68 8 door on Vintage vans. I had to remove the whole skin to replace it. Lots of pics of the different layers involved.
Use either a floor jack and a 2X4 (rough in) or a hydraulic ram to push it back out. Work from the edges where it's not in much slowly toward the center. Basic body work stuff there. It's tempting to just jack up the center, but it will be better to work it out from the edges in...
    Here's the cheap HF version

Take a look through it all to visualize all the layers at that roof seam.

Of course, you could just fix the holes in the roof and leave the big dents.
