Here are a couple recent pictures of my '31. I will share more if you guys want. It sure feels good to finally drive it. I still have a few loose ends to deal with but mainly cosmetic stuff.

Very nice, it's always nice when you break out if the tunnel, and actually drive it.

That seems like an awful lot of circuitry, accessories? Sure looks pretty under the seat.

Dig the car. What is the switch box just in front of the seat for? Ignition and start?

    Thanks guys....

The wiring looks busy and it is. I have relays for fuel pump, low beam, high beam and horn. Also I have an additional 4 relays (87a's) wired so that my tail lights which are dual filament can signal/stop/tail. It was Definitely a learning curve but well worth it.

Very cool! The stance is killer. The wiring reminds me of my '29 AV12's, which I'm close to firing for the first time. Enjoy your coupe![IMG]

    Looks good ky,

The switch box controls signals, hazards, horn, start button and hi/low's and fuel pump. I didn't want to run more wire to the dash then I needed.

Thanks. Yours is very well done. Do you plan to put anything between the electricals and the bottom of the seat? I'm a bit concerned that the seat springs might bottom out on mine. I'm a bit of a lard ass.

Electrics under seat are a good idea. Saves a lot of under dash time. Sure is a nice car.

Thanks for the kind words fellas.

Here are some more details. I'll try not to make this too long winded.
The project started about 3+ years ago when a friend of a friend had a set of old boxed 32 rails. It took a bit of time but I finally got them home along with a glass deuce rad shell and a p/u box. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1400994140.276036.jpg

Shortly after getting these parts I came across a '33 cab which I bought but didn't end up keeping very long. I ended up selling it with the box and the hunt began for a coupe. My dad found the '31 on Craigslist and that next weekend we made a 19 hour round trip the WA / Oregon border to get the car. It was a long drive but well worth it for such a straight car.

The frame rails were worth saving but the rear horns were cut off. I ended up grafting some 2x4" tube to the rails so I could hang my leaf behind the rear. How did you handle the firewall? Your floor looks very much stock-like, especially the toe panel so I was wondering what you did to the firewall to clear the heads on the flatty.

Really nice looking rod, bro. Just love it. Also, those gauge bezels are pretty trick.

  24. Bitchin' coupe man! What year rear end and leaf is that? Also what size tires are you running?

    thanks

The gauges are stewart Warner's. Most of them are nos off eBay as well as the bezels. A guy named mr dash sells them.
I don't have the stock rear horns, when I got the 2 rails they were boxed but the previous owner had bucked off the rear horns directly over the rear axle centerline.

When I welded the the model A front crossmember into the frame I cheated it forward an inch and a half. I didn't want to cut the stock firewall nor did I want to mess with the floor. That extra 1.5" gave me about 3/4" on the front end for fan clearance so I can swap belts. Ill post a bunch more pictures here in the next while and try to awnser anymore questions i may have forgotten.

Ok guys. Got it outside in the light for some more pictures. Here are some shots of firewall and fan clearance... ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1401038192.632608.jpg

    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1401038341.909629.jpg

    As for front end:
Cool old chromed round back spindles I found with brakes that a guy was getting rid of for disc brakes.
    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1401038431.383906.jpg

Had to put a dip in my drag link to clear the pulley. It wasn't a real issue but if I hit anything hard I didn't want the two making contact. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1401038633.548023.jpg

The wood inside was pretty much shot. I bought a cheap bandsaw locally and used the original wood as
Templates and made new wood out of a big old rock hard slab or fir. Seemed to work out pretty great. I cleaned up and used all the original fasteners, I'm a few short here and there but I'll find more. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1401038874.680007.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1401038969.004430.jpg

I put a "tanks" fuel tank in the trunk. I built a frame to get it up off the floor a bit so I had a spot underneath for a tools etc. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1401039189.991055.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1401039239.591599.jpg I wanted to keep the stock bowl on the firewall so from the pump I ran it underneath the car then inside the cab to the regulator. It was a bit of extra work but that glass bowl was too cool to not use.
