YOM plates are very cool on our rides, I have them on my '46, but I also have been pulled over by the police (twice). After showing them the registration and walking them thru it, they let me go, but I just get nervous when it happens.

I'd rather sell my car than run the ugly new California plates.

First paint the tag the color of the numbers. 5 or 6 coats then paint the tag the color of the background. Sand the numbers/letters with fine grit gently. It should look good. You get better with each tag you do.

Here is what I plan to restore? (I don't know what to do) For my 40 Ford. Note the aluminum rivet between Mexico and 1940, this makes it a "legal" plate (not current though).

For ages now Alberta plates have been red numbers on white. Back in the 50s the colours changed yearly (I think). I finally tracked down a set of 1950 plates and what was that year's colours? Red numbers on white. Dammit!

Here in South Dakota, it's $10.00 for a lifetime registration for YOM plates. You just have to submit photos of your plates to the state for them to approve them. One catch, is the plate number cannot be currently used by anyone else. A friend of mine searched and searched for the correct year, and correct county, and all, only find out the plate number was a current number, as well. Bummer.

I laminated my registration, as it is the last one I will need on a car I will pass on to my kids.

In Colorado, YOM plate registration is free. The '29 plate is a genuine truck plate and on the '27 that is a bonded registration, I was able to get a current personalized plate with matching numbers DSC03055.JPG MVC-002F.JPG

PA Street Rod Plate on the back of the '31-At least it has a hotrod on it-PA31 plate on the front. My OT '65 Mustang runs a PA Antique plate (ugly) but a YOM on the front.

One for my '55 Chevy and the other for my '37 Chevy coupe project. In Missouri, the YOM is easy to get w/ the same mileage restrictions that I have never seen enforced. It is permanent and never requires an inspection or re-registration.

    I have 3 other '37 Missouri plates if anyone is interested. 012_2.jpg 2-12-14 041_2.JPG

    Here's a few pic of plates on my 1940 Chevy... 1497504_392910154177951_1895696838_n.jpg 1607054_392911420844491_1501444344_n.jpg

  27. Good timing to see this thread- I just got a yom plate for my 39 and one today for my 51. The 39 from WA state is kinda cool, it says "golden jubilee 1889 - 1939" and it's a truck plate so it states "truck" in small letters. The 51 had county codes, but unfortunately I didn't find a one that matches my county.. oh well.

  28. Going on my 32 Ford Roadster. Have another single that I am having refinished. I use Finish Your Plates. Excellent work. 32 Arkansas Tag 1.JPG 32 Arkansas Tag 3.JPG
