The sense of history in this build is almost overwhelming. So great that a person with such a deep appreciation for it has been blessed with this opportunity. Great thread, Olav!

However, I repaired the rust in the splash pan and made a new bumper for my buddy's 54 Chevy. The center section is a 55 ford rear bumper, and the ends are from a 55 ford front bumper, so they match the contour of the fenders and wraps nicely around the quarter panels.

  6. Talk about living the dream.

Love seeing the progress on this.

  7. @Kvipt what was your process on polishing that chrome grille?

  8. The result was very good, i'll post a photo later today. Notice the 54 bumper i made, i polished the corner end of it. See the difference?

The Color Junior made for me looked real smashing! Hard to capture it in the photos..

Wonder how many old custom cars that has been painted at that very spot! I'm so lucky to be here in the old Barris shop and do what i'm doing! Hopefully it will be assembled and ready for Santa Maria!

The engine is done as well. Waiting for the POR15 engine enamel. George said it should be hugger orange as he had it, so it will be that.

I bought a lot of stuff from the Dean Jeffries auction last year. The supplies are his old, notice the writing on the cans. Original Jeffries! I applied the clear with my 1947 Binks Model 7 that my older brother Sondre gave me for Christmas two years ago.

    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1400223783.159806.jpg

I even measured the base and clear with Dean's old tape measurement!

    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1400223879.854000.jpg

And masked the parts with this old paper holder Dean made of an old shopping cart!

Light was supplied by my super Rab lamp, mounted on a 1930's music note holder. The bulb is from Dean Jeffries as well.

    The color is looking great!

  14. That color rocks! How close is it to the original color that was on the truck?

Man what a thread. Did you ask George about the "leads" on your wagon? Just curious

Incredible thread! Great chronology: It read like an early Hop Up mag article, with pics of 'famous' places...your gracious inclusion of George and all his photos, just splendid.
All the way thru the drama of the tailgate, then it unfolded...
Great hilite was the recovery of your wagon! (I secretly 'grieved' for your loss, was sure you'd never see it again...)
But the last part where JUNIOR CONWAY mixes your paint, and you have the added blessings of possessing some of Dean's lacquers and tools, and are using them AGAIN!
I'm just astonished. You are the bearer of the torch.
