Pre-streamlined John Deere maybe? Those were pretty square.

Factoid: Henry Dreyfuss did the streamlining on the JD in the late '30s. He also restyled the 1938 20th Century Limited for the New York Central, the most common icon of the streamline era.

Looks like a REO or Dimaond T semi tractor rad assy. If not one of those, something from that genre. The missing emblem has me thinkin that way...farm implements don't typically have that shit.

Not John Deere - I was thinking Minneapolis Moline too but I don't know - I would say either big truck or industrial engine(power unit) but don't know the make.

    Hey,

That grille doesn't look large enough to be off of any truck. And it doesn't
look like any tractor grille that I've seen. Perhaps it's off a LeRoi compressor
    /generator. Military?

Here's a link to an old truck site with some pix--didn't see anything similar.

I'm also thinking some kind of stationary equipment -- or maybe powered farm equipment like a combine.

I have to agree. If it was farm tractor it would have narrower slats and a screen of some type. Any kind of earth moving would be of cast iron or aluminum shell. To small for over the road tractor and it has no temperature regulator register. It looks like a rear exhaust radiator so it maybe a stationary or industrial radiator something like a Barber Greene asphalt paver.

It does have a fan shroud on it... standard looking upper and lower radiator hose connections.

I found some numbers on it today:

    1A5151
    Modine
    L1053

Anyone have an old Modine catalog?

So far everyone thinks it might be some type of generator/welder. The guy that gave it to me is an old timer... he knows his tractors and does not know what it is. Even Unkl Al said about the same thing. I'm going to call Modine on Tuesday and see if they can tell me. I am just curious about it, but it will still find it's way on my truck even if I never know what it is.

So far I'm just $14 into the build....
