I bought my first car when I was 14 and have been hot rodding them ever since. My first ride in a hot rod was in my cousins '50 Chevy with a 283 w/ 3-deuces and a 4-speed. I was 12 years old and was hooked, that was 1967. In 2000 my cousin gave me that car, it had been parked in an old Iowa farm shed since 1978, when my cousin quit street racing around the Sioux City area. By that time it had seen several engines, the last one was a 427 BBC that pushed the car into the low 11's in the quarter mile. It had no engine or transmission in it when I got the car but it still had the '57 Pontiac rear end in it with welded spider gears and 5:13 gears.. I built the car with a mild 350 and BW Super T-10 4-speed for nostalgia sake. The 350 ran great but I'm a Big Block guy and built a strong 454 for it so now I have absolutely no traction on street tires. It's a real hot rod now. The car is primer black right now but currently is in the process of getting 'real' paint on it. I added a '78 Nova front sub-frame to get disc brakes and power steering but with the big block I lost the P/S due to clearance problems. I recently added a March P/S bracket and now have P/S again. I also put the '57 Pontiac rear end back in the car after finding a '63 posi traction third member for it and had MOSER 31-spline axles made for it I also upgraded the rear suspension with Chassis Engineering rear leaf springs and a sway bar. Swap meet traction bars were modified for this application. The car runs great but I have another 454 block that I'm thinking of building into a stroker 496. Thanks for looking.
