I have one in my avatar behind a mild build 289. Works great, but I don't get crazy with it because of the wire wheels. What kind of money are...
Keep at it. It only took me 37 years to get mine where it's at. Life kind of got in the way, it sat for 31 years.
In 1969 I tried my damdest to buy a complete 29 Chevy 3 window coupe. But the old guy wanted to keep it, (Going to fix it up someday!)

I put a 400M in my 56 Bird and used a 4x4 pan. I had to make a small modification to the bottom just above the steering linkage.
