- I built a really killer '63 Chev pickup back in 1988 - short wheelbase, wide bed - with an aluminum head 454, Holley 850, MSD electronic ignition system... the first night out, I pulled the front left wheel off the ground!
My younger brother (HAMB: Hedge12) and I had a 1930 Model A coupe when we were in High School (circa 1980) that we got by trading a scratch-built (not by us) Corvair-powered dune buggy for... the body had been welded onto the frame, and even though we did a lot of work on it, we were kids and hampered by lack of knowledge and funds, and never got it running.
I spent more than 25 years in the Army as an Infantry Paratrooper; retired as a Master Sergeant in 2008 from the 82d Airborne Division. I now work as a 911 Dispatcher and live on a small farm with two - count 'em, TWO! - nice shop buildings. We have five great, young children, 3 girls and twin boys who are really crazy for hot rods! We just built a gokart, see...
EDIT 20181201:
No longer gainfully employed, but using my VA school benefits to get a college degree - "just because". I've been re-arranging my shop from woodworking to more metal fab stuff and have a line on two rod starts - a probably 60's built 28-29 A RPU w/ an SBC, and a ~ 30 pickup closed cab (body only - but with a valid title). I hope to have one of them in hand "soon", and start the long process.Interact
