My name is Peter Johnson. I'm 28 year old accounting student at North Dakota State University. Grew up in a musclecar family, discovered circle track racing at 15 and did that for a few years. Built my own cars, engines, suspensions, etc. with help from my HS shop teacher (and sponsors for money). Did the "working at Subway to buy a camshaft" thing. I love the vintage stock cars more than the present day specimens. I grew up reading Hot Rod magazine, but mostly for the muscle cars. Seemed like the only old fords were fiberglass street rods with rediculous colors of paint, graphics, and wide aluminum wheels (usually centerlines). I thought they were ugly, skipped over them and turned the page. After I got home from Iraq in '06 my brother-in-law introduced me to traditional hot rods. Like vintage stock cars, these traditional rods call me back to a simpler but still exciting time. My heart and spirit belongs on the dry lakes and the salt where my fellow vets came home to in the 40's to create, innovate, compete, and keep the adrenaline rollin'. It's refreshing and exciting to be in a segment of the hobby that values style, speed, and sense of tradition. My time is spent performing military funeral honors full time for the Army National Guard, studying as a part-time student, operating an engine dyno I helped install for a local race engine builder, and building hot rods and customs with my brother in law. I roll with the Suedes of Minnesota/North Dakota. Good group of people. Go to our website www.suedescarclub.com. Thank you all for your help and inspiration, and I thank you for including me in your outstanding community. -racerjInteract
