I was born and grew up in Tampa FL., the winter home of the IMCA. My dad knew Pete Folse as well as Buzz Barton, and I attended school with Pete's kids. I drove sprints on a limited basis in 69, 70, and 71 mostly in Florida. I have always followed sprint cars and am drawn toward the preservation of the pre 1969 sprinters; I guess that's the era that influenced me the most. Before becoming a full time pastor I made a living welding high pressure piping assemblies. I worked for Westinghouse Electric Corp. in Tampa FL during the 70s and early 80s at their nuclear energy systems plant as a class "A" welder. After the nuclear industry slowed I continued to weld for various companies in Florida, mostly commercial RO plants and DeSal work. Even after grad school I've kept my hand in welding by using the TIG machine I have in the garage to fab racing parts, and repair chromemoly chassis for local racers.
