Yup, you guys were correct. I checked the starter, ignition switch, ground, etc.. pretty sure it turned out to be a loose nut on my positive...

I ran the # on the carter and it came back that it's for a 1964 cadillac 429ci, not my 390.. so it looks like 1 is too big and 1 is too small......
