Are you sure it’s taking off in low gear? Does it shift through all the gears properly?
Cam super retarded? Exhaust blocked? What compression ratio? What trans? Automatica or manual?
Just be careful with the Amazon/Ebay stuff. There is some junk out there! The stuff I used in my car looked good at first but doesn’t wear well....
I would grind it, epoxy it and then block off the exhaust cross over with metal shims so it doesn’t get that hot.

It sounds like your yoke has a blind spline. Meaning, missing one for some other application for alignment. Pretty sure they are 32.
Those carbs really only want about 2 psi. Maybe 3 max. Should be able to use a two port regulator. Don’t think you need a return.
