I go way back to when you could hide "Rod & Custom" in your school note book, and I did. My first car and I were the same age. My current project is the forth old car I've owned since 1968, The first was very clean original 41 chevy club coupe with a blown-up engine, that over the seventeen years I owned it, became my first street rod. The next two were major restorations into "long distant drivers", 47 chevy convertable that was driven in the first Rod & Custom Americruise to Springfield Missouri. Soon after that trip to Missouri the 47 was sold to make room for another 41 chevy coupe that came in many, many pieces. this was a fairly fast project for me, the top chopped about three inches, every thing that stuck out was taken off and the body smoothed and painted Viper red. In this car I ran my third Americurise to Snowmass, Colorado. it was driving west of Denver on I70 that I asked myself, was this chopped top necessary? we sure missed a lot scenic views! that was 1996. It is now 2007 and I have come full circle, my last car and I are the same age and it will look just like the 39 chevy 2dr sedan that I started with in high school in 1955.
