Well i had a few Drag race cars. The first one was a 1931 Chevy with a 283 Out to a 301 CID E/G & thin C/G.Had a 1965 A/FX Dodge From Mr.Norm set up by Grand Spaulding Dodge Chicago,ILThe most popular car was the Hot Tuna Top Fuel dragster.
Well i guess it started at the Indy 500 The year Billy Vukovich took the checkered flag and the next year as i recall he was killed.Back in South Florida Where i was born in Ft.Lauderdale,I started going to the circle track races with my Dad that knew some of the racers one was Charlie Johns that won a lot of this type of auto racing. As i recall my first Drag Race was when i was just a young kid hanging on those old fences at masters field in Miami watching the flag man jump up to start the Drag race also some old air field in Davie,FL.I guess my first race as a driver was in Ft.Lauderdale,FL At the beach using the stop and go light.First race track was masters field in the 31 Chevy.Next was a 65 Corvette 327 CID Class A Sports A/S. Then for a short time the A/FX Dodge at Hollywood speedway and West Palm Beach,International Raceway and drove that car in mostly the S.E.NHRA Div 2 States.I was a international big game fisherman when not racing. Then coming back to racing i jumped right to the top of the Drag Racing class top fuel the name of the car came from the giant blue fin tuna witch they say is the hottest fish i the ocean.I owned the top fuel car but was not the driver the first driver was the well known dragster ace Dick McFarlan The 2nd driver was TV Tommy Ivo's Crew chief/Helper John Tarzan Austin.Just a few of the details...I looked back over my biography and see i left out the 67 427 CID Chevy Impala 2 Door...
