My 1968 high school 'car' was a '60 Chevy shorty pickup with a 283, three on the tree and chrome reverse wheels. I had the first hot rodded pickup in my home town, since everyone else aspired to muscle cars. My Mom was daily driving a '65 Mustang, bought from the original owner in '68. After high school, I sold the Chevy and bought a near mint second-owner '50 Pontiac 2-door fastback with a straight eight and hydramatic that I drove to the University of Oregon. I sold the Pontiac in junior year and bought the Mustang from Mom. I still have the Mustang as a weekly driver. Briefly I owned a ratty 200-dollar '64 Pontiac Bonneville Brougham that I powered with a slightly modified '76 Pontiac 455 and a Turbo 400, but I sold that to buy my house. My grandfather and Dad both owned new '64 Corvette fastbacks, one red on red, the other black on black, with four speed 300 hp 327s but those were sold off in 1967, just before I got my driver's license. Hmmm, I wonder why?
