My father really loved his hot rods - like many of us, I am sure. He spent the majority of the 1950s through the early 1970s messing with them, until family obligations and the economy of the early 70s just got the better of him, and money wasn't there for extras. I grew up reading his old Hot Rod magazines from the 1940s, 1950s and 60s. I was the only boy driven to grade school in a Model A in my hometown which at the time seemed really weird but has become one of my favorite memories of youth. I've pretty much followed his footsteps; the only difference is I have a couple of tattoos and he did not. Personal preference, I guess. He passed on years ago; I'm not so sure he would appreciate the body art but I think he would be okay with everything else I have done. I'm just trying to have fun like the old man - working on cars, raising a family, and trying to get by. I wish he were around to see how many people are enjoying traditional hot rods now.

It is nice to be important, but it is more important to be nice.
