Cars are too heavy to lift and swing. Big sticks make better clubs.
At 8 years old, I was laying in a gravel driveway painting the underside of my father's '48 Ford coupe hot rod. By 13, I was building my first car - a 1960 Plymouth. I've had a wrench in my hand most of my life. After moving south in '95, I found myself without my hot rod network and was facing actually "paying" for a paint job - so I started sanding, and reading, and applying liberal amounts of bondo only to sand it back off....then spraying, and sanding, and re-spraying, and scratching my head, and sanding it all off again...I can now say I'm 100% self taught, and capable of body and paint work equal to 95% of what's out there. I absolutely love to lay flames! I'm still learning every time I tackle body work or start painting - there's always an "old-timer" trick to learn! (ex. a few drops of fiberglass resin hardener added to bondo eliminates air bubbles...) Another recent lesson: those guys who can pinstripe are gods. I am not a god. If I want nice pinstriping, I either need to tape them or track down a god.
Looking forward to be a part of this community with other like minded people!
