I could not afford a good car when I turned 16, so I ended up with a 1941 chevy 4 dr that nobody wanted, for $20. When the car broke my Dad gave me a Motors Manual and said "If you want to drive that thing fix it yourself". I learned a lot from that car, and started fixing my friends cars, as I just have a natural mechanical ability.
At 17 I was able to save enough money and was able to buy a 1961 Impala, 348, tripower, 3 speed, I got really good at changing out second gear on Sunday afternoon, because I would usually blow one on Saturday night.
When I was 19 I built my first real hot rod, a choped frnder less, 32 Ford 3 window coupe running a nail head Buick with a B&M hydro. It was yellow and always on Van Nuys blvd. or at the S.F.V. street racers, at the Bank of America. Still have my race ? jacket.
After the 32, I had a 55 Chev. Bel Air for a while. Then built a 31 model A coupe with a 327 4 speed, it was black primer with steel wheels.
I have had many cars, but those were the ones that I had the most fun with in the valley.
Now I building a 50 Oldsmobile 88 fastback as a daily driver, also a 41 Chevy 2 door sedan, maybe to sell.
Have a 31 model A coupe 327, 350 turbo that I was raceing at L.A. county raceway. It does make a better street driver though.
I do all of my own work, not because I am some kind of genius, but because I always have.
My driver is a aqua & white 56 Chevy station wagon, I use it for my tow car, and have driven it all over the western states.Interact
