13 years old: Built go-kart, drove it on Foothill Blvd.
15 yrs: Mom's 69 GTO airborne over a Van Nuys railroad crossing at 3 AM.
First car: '52 Chevrolet Deluxe two-door. High school, sold it to my cousin, Bill Perea. (AKA: Taco Bill; built the body on Von Franco's gold roadster.)
Second car (1972, age 15): '56 Pontiac Safari (Pontiac version of a Nomad) chrome reverse rims (11" in rear), 60 series tires and custom black paint and interior. Will always miss that car.
Started getting into Eastern Philosophy, whole foods, environmental science, lefty politics, etc. around the late 70's. (Don't care if you laugh at that.)
Hung around the L.A. Punk scene quite a bit in the 80's with a lowered blue '64 Pontiac tempest beater & '67 Firebird.
Driver's License suspended a few times.
Added '58 Chevy, '60 Chev. low rider, '27 Ford body, '30 Model A coupe body to the pile.
Interested in Science (for one thing, you need Science to build a fast car). All high performance, self-built as much as possible, but always TRADITIONAL HOT ROD / CUSTOM style and method. I like real American steel as much as anybody.
I RESPECT TRADITION. Thanks for reading.Interact
