blue hell wrench

In 1965, my brother Rapid Roniie Runyan allowed me to work on his early 1966 corvette Blue Hell and raced with him nationwide until I was drafted in 1970. It should be noted that he remained a true chevy man. His last run at Kansa City Intl Raceway was against Prudhomme and he beat him but, smoked the engine and decided to sell it all. There was a reason he was nick named Rapid Ronnie. Many underestimated him and he was good at the lights. He and Jungle Jime invented the long smoky burnouts because wee couldn't afford the lastest tires and needed to warm them up real good. Ronnie was among the first to invent the term"funny car" and was a local favorite in California strips. Great to hear someone is restoring one of his rides. If any fans see him at one of the nostaglia races- he loves to talk to his fans and he is a great brother. Mike Runyan
