i was born 1978 in the DDR (GDR) eastern germany. had no chance to know of hot roddin until the wall broke down in 1989. after graduation in my hometown and the alternative civilian service, i started to study in the university of potsdam. through these days i had 3 motorcycles, a kawasaki, a suzuki and finally a AWO 425 made in 1956. the AWO looks like a shrunken harley and soon i was on motorcycles meets. in 2001 i bought my first and the very first issue of the smokinshutdown magazine at a local book store in potsdam and was fully infected. one day, i decided to drive to the race ´61 on the formally russian airfield base in Finofurt and there i met the well know Thom Piston, editor of the Smokin Shutdown mag. from this day on i´m dreamin of havin a ´50 shoebox ford v8.
