T.N.Simmons always said, "My boats will get you home long after you wished you were already there." In the '50s and '60s it was not uncommon to see these boats out in the Gulf Stream, 35-40 miles off the coast of North Carolina from Wrightsville Beach. This particular boat, according to the owner's log, made it out to Texas Tower, a transmission station off Tybee Island, GA, some 20 miles away. The boats are extraordinarily seaworthy. The bow of a New England dory and the stern of a traditional Carolina workboat. This one was restored in my shop over an 18 month period.
