The carbs are Rochester Varijets. These are progressive 2-barrel units used on Buick and Chevy 2.8L V6s. They have a small primary and a huge secondary. The secondary is controlled by a air valve that has a metering rod connected to it. Secondary thereby only comes into play as engine vacuum demands it. These Carbs are essentially a Quadrajet that is sliced in half longitudinally.
