I'd keep the Strombergs, ditch the extractors and fit a pair of cast headers with 2x 2in(50MM) pipes thru 2 Lukey 12 in. mufflers. I loved the RAPP as it went thru about 1500rpm. That was the ticket in '64-'when I had mine anyway.

I like the performance of the extractors. Ultimately I'd like to make a set of 'Bi-Y' pipes into the system you describe. Thanks for setting the concept in my mind- I'm a long way back from exhaust fab on this car. BTW those cast headers are ridiculous prices these days.
I'm gonna get it going with a single carb on a manifold I've cleaned up. Eventually the twins will go on- linkage has been swiped sometime in the last 20 odd years. Used to be a lil' screamer, this mill.
