JUST A LITTLE info for you..........there were 2 1934 chevrolet standard series bodies, the early ones called 200 series had the gas tank cover panel separate and the body was 2" shorter.

The later 1934 Chevrolet standard series was now called the 1934-B Chevrolet 1200 series . The gas tank panel was now all part of the large one piece rear panel stamping. With the stretch of the body thye tail light bracket arms went from the fender to the rear bumper with a special bracket. I guess because of the longer 2" body ?

Here's a little more taken from an appraisal -

'The data plate shows Style No. 35-1209 which would, at first glance, appear to be for a 1935 Chevrolet four-door sedan. However, in 1934 the four door Standard Series sedan was not introduced until October of than year. These cars are considered "late 1934 models" but actually used the 1935 Fisher supplied body. As per the description in the body section of the original parts book "The 35-1201 Coach, 35-1207 Coupe, 35-1209 Sedan and the 35-1271 Sedan Delivery are 1935 body styles on a 1934 DC chassis".
As such, despite the newer body and '35 designation on the data plate, they were titled as and considered 1934 model year cars and this is confirmed in the serial number.

1930 Chevy boat tail Speedster. I haven't posted in awhile. We are working on the body tub now. Engine sounds good, driveshaft is in, it has brakes. Lookout here we come. I can't thank my friends (Roadburner1 and his father) enough. Gary

This is really looking good! I love the front end and my '26 will be very similar. Are you using stock springs and axle? What size are the wheels and tires?

Six Ball, Using the stock springs front and back with three leafs removed from the rear. Using 1954 Chevy half ton pick-up front axle (six lug) and drum brakes, 1995 Nissan Pathfinder rear end, limited slip, with six lugs, perfect width. Rims are 17" 1936 Chevy Master deluxe wires with Coker Excelsior Radials (6.00-6:50 size 29" tall) Not cheap...but they have the look. They balanced out pretty good. Thanks, Gary

  10. Gary, thanks for posting the pics! Love the progress you've made. Tha's going to be a sweet ride.

Thanks for the details. They help me sort out all the stuff rolling around in my head. By the way I like how you are doing the boat tail too.

From the 1935 Chevrolet of Canada production records for 1935 STANDARD SERIES ....MODEL NUMBER 12-09 , ***FISHER JOB # 35-1209*** 5 PASSENGER REGULAR SEDAN. a total of 885 built.

If your car has a frame with an X member its a 1935. on your firewall Gm of Canada tag = First serial number 512070001 December 28 1934 = 5 for year... ( 1201 or 1207--or--1209 or 1246-- or 1256--or 1289 are all individual models for the standard series
) last 4 numbers beginning with 0001 are the order the cars were built and numbered.

I know that Tim's car was built in Janesville WI and did not have a X member. It is registered as a '34.

I'd like to join in on this group as well. I love all of the '34 GM body styles. Especially like the cabriolets but will probably never get the chance to own one.

That would be either a Pontiac or Olds engine. Pretty cool.

hi. My 46 Coupe is still in the shop. Engine overhaul on the 1957 235 is now finished & beginning the engine swap this week to replace original 216. The new 235 engine has new everything inside & outside, bored 0.060, 264 cam, dual water heated Clifford intake with two 2 barrell Webber carbs, dual tube headers with X pipe, 12 volt etc.

Once the engine swap is done & everything is hooked up it will get a new gas tank, eshaust pipes & be ready to go. Hopefully it will be on the street by the end of this month.

Once running & driving I will order new wide WW radials, 750/16 rear & 600/16 front & then relevel for a good stance. When I do this it will get tube shocks.

The interior is new original style & exterior has new chrome & paint. I am going for a near stock interior & exterior look until the hood is opened & then new engine with lots of chrome & polish.

My thoughts on this build is to have a street rod daily driver similar to what I drove back in the mid 50's.

I think this will really work great for me & about to bust trying to get it finished.

Thanks Gary. Looking at your torpedo tail body (for lack of what to really call it) & that is really going to be something when finished. Actually it is really something nice right now. That would be a great build to follow.
