Well I'm ready to take her to the painter...finished up the last bit of metalwork on the bottom of my skirts where they were sloppy and left cut off with tin snips from Foxcraft. Octavio painted my hood, trunk, and door jambs. I'll chop my window opening stainless trim down and drop her off...hopefully my next update will be shiny paint :)

I liked it in primer, and have enjoyed seeing the progress over the last years. Now I am really looking forward to see it painted. It will be stunning, Rob!

The car's looking good , I love the color - I can't wait to see it all shiney !

From what I can see , the skirts are not technically Foxcraft skirts - they're Foxcraft-style skirts . Foxcraft skirts have the spring clips on the bottom welded to the bottom lip , not bolted on . Here's what I mean - this is the back of a Foxcraft :

I've bought & sold plenty of Shoebox skirts (Foxcraft & not) in the past few years . The style you are working with are usually a very nice product - I have 2 pairs sitting at my joint now . IIRC , both sets are pretty nice along the bottom (i.e. not tin-snipped up) . One set is NOS with stickers & all still on them , which will be used on MY ride :) . Real Foxcraft & these copies are the only ones I'll buy , due to their higher quality - some others that look similar are true junk . Here's the back of the second set , you can see how the clips are bolted on :

You did a great job fixing yours . They fit the car very well now !

That style/brand of skirt are not a bad thing at all - they (usually) fit very well , as well as the Foxcrafts , if ya ask me . Don't forget , the Foxcrafts were just an aftermarket deal too , and not a factory piece . They sure saved a buncha work over actually cutting down factory 51 Merc skirts ! I've run across some real crappy cut-down-merc-style skirts over the last couple years . Some are cut/folded really poorly , some really thin & flimsy & some both . Then there are fiberglass ones ... I've seen some real shit there too . The Foxcrafts and the style above are both quality pieces , made of real metal . I wonder if someone was trimming at Shoebox1950's skirts before he got 'em , because they're usually pretty nice .

Thanks guys! Yeah I'm not sure if they're actually Foxcraft or just a similar brand. I know they were NOS and just not finished off to my standards. They needed tge metalwork and a skim coat of filler. Not a bad start though and like you said, these were a quick aftermarket accessory.

Thanks! I give the credit for the Pontiac tail lights to Barris and my friend Octavio for suggesting them from the Barris built Chuck DeWitt Ford. This week I started cutting down my window opening stainless trim...going to weld it up and drop her off for paint next Friday :)

My friend Octavio did the bodywork and Zbest Paint and Body in Lake Elsinore, California did the paintjob...I couldn't be happier!

I've been busy reassembling my Ford. New oil pan (no more nasty leaks! ), my friend Arie welded up my side trim...coming together nicely.

I don't think I mentioned it...it's a '54 Ford grill narrowed with '51 bullets on the ends. I loved the grill in Don Roberts' shoebox

Getting closer to the finish line. Ernie's auto interiors in Colton just did my headliner, carpets, and door/kick panels (seats were already done by a guy in LA last year). Ernie did a wonderful job.
