Hot Rods "I shouldn't have sold that"

Well guys, Ive been thinking lately about all the cool things Ive let go of over the years. Post what you regret selling over the years, Hot rods, Parts, customs, you name it.

This is the one i regret selling the most, i can only hope to get it back one day. cragar 4-71 blower intake. tear, tear.

 

The V8-60 ARDUN engine I swapped for $2,200 in repo 1932 Ford parts around 1975 is the first thing that comes to mind. Bob

There isn't enough room to list the things I shouldn't have sold.

 

A steel 32 roadster body with mint bows back in 82, regretted it to this day. Got it for $150.oo and sold it for $300.oo. JW

 

Sold a perfectly good steel '32 5 window coupe body with a 3 1/2 inch chop.
Was back in about '68. Got about $150 for it.

 

Sorry to get off topic here. Do you know who you sold it too? And who you bought it off. Just trying to find more history on mine which has same chop done in 1967, and I have details of owners back to about '68. Thanks. Clemens.

 

I'm regretting selling a good 8BA block that I didn't really need, - and that was only last week.

 

The 40 Ford Coupe I had when I was in high school. Bought a 68 SS Chevelle in college and sold the coupe.....IDIOT !!

 

'64 Corvette roadster, both tops, 2nd owner(me), new cloth top, new brakes, 300 hp 4spd, white, red int. in 1971. Bought it for $1000 sold it for $1500 a few months later! God, I hate myself!!

 

A rust free, never repaired 36 3W with a 283 mated to the OEM driveline and Zephyr gears in the trans. Black, wicked stance, copper n white tuck n roll, copper dash full of SW gauges, 59 Impala wheel. Bought it for 1700.00, we drove it around for a month, sold it for $3800. Could add a zero to the end of that price today and even that wouldn't replace the vibe from behind the wheel. A who's who of muscle cars that if had em right now I could retire and go find my 36. In many of the sales cases I didn't really need the $$$$, just took it.

 

Someone gave me a complete J-2 set up, but I didn't have an Olds. Sold off the carbs to a friend who had a 3 X 2 Chevy intake. I was 17 at the time, what did I know?

 

It was built and finished by Sid Gyde out of ChristChurch.
I bought it off a young guy in Palmy who's name escapes me at the moment.

 

In 1968 I ordered a new Mustang and sold my perfectly decent daily driver , 55 Chevy 2 door post , 6 cyl 3 speed for $225 . ...new buyer wrecked it a couple of months later ,

 

WAY too much to list. A start would be, 46 Willys CJ2A, 66 Scout, 49 Plymouth coupe, 49 GMC, 56 Olds, 1930 Ford Tudor, 1931 Ford coupe, 1957 Kombi, ahh hell, I give up.. too much to list..

 

1962 Belair bubbletop, hands down my biggest regret. Disclaimer, I was only 16 at the time in 1970. Roman red, red interior, 283-3 on the tree. Damn, still hurts when I think about it.

 

Among my many regrets, a cherry Creitz dual four SBC intake, my '56 210 two door sedan, a mint Dixco Stars and Bars tach and that one set of NOS Cal Custom finned aluminum valve covers with NOS Offy breathers installed.

What the hell was I thinking...

 

I'll play, '48 Willys, '62 Suburban, '64 Impala SS 327/4spd, two '71 Formula 400's (both 4spd cars), '66 ElCamino, '65 Biscayne 2 door 327/4spd, '41 Chevy Town Sedan, '36 Chevy Master Town Sedan, several V-8 Vega's, a couple Camaros, and these were just some of the drivers. There were a bunch more projects I wish I had today. I quit sellin stuff a while back, but I can't quit buying stuff. Now I'm out of room.

My regret: 1942 Lincoln Continental coupe, with a 500ci Caddy BB. One of just 200 coupes built in '42 and apparently first owned by Joan Crawford.

I sold my 40 coupe too----then a whole lotta other good stuff. I'm glad my memory fails me from time to time. Did I mention my 40 coupe???

 

I'll play too. In 1990, being in my mid 20's and dumber than a fence post I sold the '36 Ford five window coupe that my great uncle had given my parents as a wedding present in 1962. My great uncle had purchased it new.

The car didn't run, was missing some parts, and needed to be completely gone through but it was in solid shape and had been in the family since it was new. To add insult to injury I included an Edelbrock four deuce flathead intake with four Stromberg '97's on it.

I got $1,900 for the whole works and used the money to buy a '74 Corvette. The Corvette is long gone and I really regret letting the '36 go. I tried tracking it down. It changed hands at least three times after I had sold it but the trail ran cold and I gave up trying to find it.

 

Sad story with a happy ending, In or around 1990 went to phily bought a steel 32 3 window, mint , got it home got it running and driving ,black primer, apple green wire wheels, sbf, along comes a local guy, wanted ,it bought it, I always wished I hadnt sold, anyway july 2013 20 years to the month later, he come by said he was ready to sell , I bought it back same day , he had painted it but that was 20 years ago so now I am totally redoing , slick black all steel , chopped, steelies, hope to have it ready sometime this summer , was gonna do a story on the hamb just never did , , thanks for the opportunity.Dempsey

My black/red stripe 60 Chevy 2 door hardtop. Kerrville, in the late 90's. Anyone seen it?

 

427 Chevy industrial motor, 429 ford police interceptor motor with 4 speed (passed anything but a gas station; was in a 1977 ford pickup and it was fun to watch the gas needle go down whenever I nailed it), 1967 AMC with less than 10,000 miles, 1959 Chevy pickup, 1915 ford chassis, 1925 ford pickup bed, 1913 ford body, 1907 Ford N,R,S chassis missing motor and trans, Probably will be sad to sell my 1954 Studebaker, but won't know until I do.

 

Nope still got it!
