Technical Buick 12 Inch Brake NAPA Part Numbers 45 Fin Aluminum

Hello.

After installing a few sets of the 45 fin Buick aluminum brake drums on my Hot Rods with the Buick backing plates, I thought I would post these numbers I have gathered in case they may help someone out.

These are part numbers if you are using the original Buick backing plates with the drums.

These are all NAPA numbers;

Front shoes TS-197 (12" by 2 1/4") (I also use these on the back)
Front shoes TS-127 (12" by 2 1/2") (These do not always work, some have different depths where the pins from the cylinder meet the brake shoe)


Front wheel cylinder 14493
Front wheel cylinder 14494

Rear wheel cylinder 13388 RT
Rear wheel cylinder 13387 LT

Adjusting screw 80562
Adjusting screw spring 80503
Shoe link 80743
Spring for rear parking brake cross piece 80744
Maxi pack (springs, pins, cups, misc.) 2225

The maxi pack will give you an assortment of pieces. NAPA tells me that they are not selling some of these pieces separately anymore.

When getting wheel cylinders, look them over as the do not always match right to left in style / shape. I usually have them pull down two or three of each and cherry pick a matched set.

I use the red return springs from the 2225 maxi pack.

Pins should be #1's.

Good info, I fabed Buick brakes on the rear also with 9" bearing ends on my Quick change.

The front brake cylinders for the Buick drums, I got a new set off 66 and newer. They have 1/16" bigger bore, pedal effort a little less with the bigger cylinders. I only buy brand new brake parts and cylinders. too many problems with rebuilt.

I ran into some difficulty with shoes on my most recent (this weekend) 45 fin front set up...sometimes the 2 1/2" shoes will not work. I used the 2 1/4" shoes, they work well. I updated my info above...
