i am finally back on the TELSTAR after two and a half years. starting with a fresh donor body......(long story, not gonna get into it right now)...as most of you know the original version went through countless changes, tweaks, design excercises,,,,whatever you want to call it. bottom line is i learned a LOT....everything i learned will be applied to what i am doing now. i realize now that i probably should have stopped somewhere along the way and just built the damn car. anyway, that being said, here are a few photos i took after i chopped the roof two days ago...still need to finish the welding,,,and then it's onto sectioning. it won't take me too long to get the car back to where it was when i left off,,,,,this time with a much more concise plan of attack. i'm not ashamed, nor do i have such a big ego to admit that i bit off a bit more than i could chew the first time around...that won't happen this time.. i'm probably not going to post quite as many photos this time, but when there is a major segment completed, i will update the thread....it will still be radical,,,it will still have a futuristic, spaceship vibe...many things will be different this time, many things will be the same or similar,,,,,stay tuned......couple of chop pics....roofline will be modified/shortened/changed.....

could have built 5 radical customs with all the cutting and welding then recutting and welding again you did on the last one.

Excited for new updates, but a bit sad that the first one is gone (?) Is it being parted out for this new project? Or is the first rule of Telstar II not to ask about Telstar I?

hey jim, very glad to see you back to building. have to admit after so many changes on the original i started to think, this car will never get done. the hardest thing about a radical custom is knowing when enough is enough. looking forward to seeing the new plan come together. stick to it and keep us posted.

Dude, wild customs are awesome but hell it would be neat to do a tasty chop and section it like an inch. Just to make it that much different. Not enough to jump out at ya. But enough to notice. That would rule.

Hey man, we support you. It was a lot of fun watching you whack and weld away on that old Ford. I'm sure this build will be every bit as fun. I look forward to your updates.

  26. Good news Jim! Glad to see you back on it or the new version I should say. I look forward to the updates. Your project is moving along about as quickly as mine and I didn't move halfway across the country and have to reestablish a business.;):D

Looks good, dont be too hard on yourself, a shoebox is not an easy chop, especially in the rear window area.

Enjoyed watching the car evolve in the old thread but like a lot of people I can't help but wonder what happened to the original "Darrin Stevens". Did you actually launch it into space?:D
