guys..need some help.just got a pretty nice original 57 belair 4dr ht.want to turn it into lite custom taildragger.any help?old pictures or some good ideas? thanks...

  2. You can start with knocking off the door handles, outside mirror(s), and radio antenna. If you want to get into some more time and money consuming mods, then add a '57 Buick grill and '56 Olds headlight bezels. Add fender skirts.

DO NOT put on a station wagon bumper and shave the trunk, it's been over done and too easy.

This one kind of has a lite custom vibe to it without doing much of anything to it, lower, skirts and duals, If you want to go a little further than that you can look at some wheels (chrome reverse) diffrent tires and/or cap (caddy?) choices, to keep it lite.
    Got any pics of yours?

  4. The reason it's been done so much is because it look's good!

  5. Lower, nose and deck, station wagon rear bumper center section, '57 Buick grille and some sort of wheel treatment (chrome wheels or hub cap change). Just imagine the car below with 2 more doors...

57's don't need much, it's easy to over-do them. Good suggestions so far.

I thought I didn't like '57 Chevies but that silver blue one with the Lancer caps and tube grille is awfully purdy!
Other than the lake pipes it's pure tastefulness and restraint, the antithesis of the goop wagon style that most '57s seem to wind up with.

  10. Here's another shot for your viewing pleasure... Oh, by the way, that "silver blue" is actually Misty Jade Green.

As the one 1stGrumpy posted in post #5 and the Jade green one with the tube grill show, less is more when customizing a 57.

A classmate in highschool had a 57 tudor hardtop that was nosed, decked and had the spears removed form the hood and the fronts of the humps rounded and painted sierra gold top and bottom. The car was originally sierra gold with a cream top but when he got done with it it was outstanding as a mild custom.
