LOL! That sounds like something that would have happened to me. I thought I could ignore it but it just getting worse and worse. Worse than getting in your eye I think.
Man, I got filthy today crawling around under that car! Saw a bit of cancer to fix but nothing too serious. I was quite happy to get those bushings replaced in one day. Was worried that it was going to be worse.

  2. I'm made steel bushings for the rear mounts, working on the middle and fronts now.

That sounds like a good bit of work! Just curious why you decided to use metal ones?

  4. Triangulation (X & K members) are a good thing in a race car chassis, because the frame rails (especially stock ones like yours and mine)want to move back and forth parallel to each other when you "pour the coals" to it. When you tie the body solidly to the frame (especially with the original floor in it) the body becomes a huge triangulation member better inhibiting the frame rails, & suspension mountings from moving around.

Thanks Butch! Kind of a drag right now the kind of work I'm having to do on the car. Looking forward to replacing the axle and building ladder bars etc. Has to be done though. I get excited because I know where it's headed.

Somehow when I installed the engine I managed to have it 1/2" higher on the drivers side. The injector stacks are so tall that small amount created a pretty ugly problem up top because it just did not line up in the scoop and it has been driving me quite batty.....seriously getting under my skin in a big way. Well, I finally had enough and today I fixed all that and am I ever happy that I did! I will sleep with a big ass smile on my face tonight.
I realize all my pics look the same but it's what I have for now.
P.s. if I were paying somebody $40/hour I would already have spent $10,000 in labor alone!

    Thanks Jimmy and MM!

It will all get more interesting once I move on to my future projects. At some point I will roll it out of this dingy garage and take some pictures with a real camera.

    Thanks buddy!
Mike at alkydigger told me that Kinsler based their design on Crower and just made some minor changes.

Just read the entire build can't wait for the video. Lots of ups and downs to these builds for sure. But your persistent is paying off in a big way. Thanks for taking us along. Ron

This build has really been alot of fun. Now that the engine is completely straight I feel like a big weight has been taken off my shoulders. Starting to creep up on the fun stuff and that feels pretty good. Once this car is done I promise you there will be videos of it inside and out...stopped and stood up! Happy to have you coming along for the ride.

Got the inner structure for the front clip mostly done today.

Much more to it than it looks like. Have to brace it a smidge and build my swing bars but this is the meat of it.

Finally got my tilt over in place. The inner structure is 16 gauge 1" square tubing held in with 3m panel bond. Guess I should give credit where it's due...my son did all the work. Only charged me $40/hour.
