Real orange trees! I expect that's pretty much a rare sight today.

There's a fascinating site called Historic Aerials. Type "Los Angeles, CA" into the search box (or any L.A. suburb), pick a year in the '50s or '40s and start looking around. The level of farming was still considerable even into the early '60s. Orange groves, lemons groves, various berry orchards, nuts, etc.

Hey Cut55, many thanks for the link to this interesting site. It is not limited to So Cal. I looked up the early surroundings from my youth in Northern New Jersey.

First try on posting. Photo of factory is the original Detroit Hudson plant in the early teens; the building still stands. The swanky convertible is a 35 Hudson delivered to a starlet, posed in a neighborhood near the Hudson plant.

Can anybody ID this little rig? Not standard issue "artillery" wheels but kinda looks like a Chevy "Bowtie" on the hubcaps, then again...

  18. Looks to be a 1936 Chevrolet woody, with standard artillery wheels.

I presume that's a high school to the left. Based entirely on the iron out front. LOVE the in-progress '40.[IMG]

Any more info or pics of this T? I really would like to see how the fuel tank was incorporated.
