Projects New lease on life for my 1933 Ford pickup

Discussion in 'Traditional Hot Rods' started by Chris, Feb 4, 2014.

  1. There is a lesson in this thread and truck about how to turn a real survivor
into something awesome. Through constant repairs/upgrades and modifications,
without ever really stopping using the truck, it has become an amazing Hot Rod.
Without ever really losing the original character of what you bought in the first place.

Hopefully anyone who finds themselves in that position, of having a real
survivor, will be able to identify and use this as a guideline of how to
do it "right" using real Ford parts.

Sorry to keep doting over your truck,
but this one really does it for me.

  2. Thanks...although through the process I did actually stop driving the truck for a year and a half but it's because I just got very busy doing other things. I'm very excited to have it back, I love this ol pickup!

Perfect, honest, hot rod truck. I love it.

  11. Another stellar build from you, as usual.

If my A ends up half as cool as this. I'll be really pleased.

    Gangster .......

  22. HAHA dunno how gangster it is...

I'm gonna pull the intake off if it soon. It has what feels like a vacuum leak for a while. I put a vacuum gauge on it and at idle it varies about 10 lbs...I cannot find a leak so I am going to pull the intake, check it out and go from there

  23. start spraying some wd40 around manifold when its running, could be carb not intake.

that about covers the essence of what i consider to be a hot rod pickup.
that is one dead on perfect looking truck, in my opionion.

  25. Love your truck! Keep up the good work!

  26. Engine.jpg seat.jpg Had the seat redone in black leather, got it back over the weekend. I was also chasing a vacuum leak and pulled the intake off. Replaced it with an original Eddie Meyer intake I picked up. Back running, leak gone!

Nice seat Chris, I love your truck to the point where I might go pull my seat out of the attack, grab the steering wheel from the hook on the wall, sit down, with shifter knob in hand and make big cam noises.
