I wasn't, but many think they should be paired with the big cuff. Heck I wore wellington/engineer boots for work and knockaround for quite a few years. Now it's always western boots everywhere because other than tennis shoes I don't own any shoes.

This is just out of this world...great karma pays back big time, well deserved amigo!!!!

I'm loss for words,really...and this is an original Von Dutch (and Jeffyes,i assume) work found since how long??

Incredible how such thing could have been hidden til today...

  18. Agree!! Would never have tought I would be the owner of such a historic and neat ride, it's so unbelievable! The coolest experience I've ever experienced. Imaging this hanging on the family farm when I come back :)

  19. Thank you Reno!! I sure am a lucky guy!! And hopefully, the 39 Merc shows up soon too! It is a collaboration between Von Dutch & Dean Jeffries, it's just to amazingly to see! The signature said 56', and the cover was installed in 1957, so it's only been exposed for one year!

  25. Well, what can I say. Another exciting and thrilling evening in Southern California!

Yesterday, my friend Roby Ballard called me and said he had a bore scope, and that he would gladly assist me searching for the lost art on my truck. I was very excited and happy about the help! Then he made it possible for me to just drill a hole in the tailgate to check if it still was intact under the filler panel, instead of taking the whole shabang off, and discover it was not there.

I got the honor to drill the hole with my super drill. Not nervous at all!

The bore scope was put in the hole, and then our eyes caught these eyes!

Roby flipped, and had to call his friend that's very fond about Von Dutch to brake the news, the painting was still there!

My friend Alex Barrios came by to witness the holy ceremony. We were so happy, and tried to figure out the best way to remove the panel.

I removed the lead with my super drill. Then I called George to tell that the painting was still intact. He said, "I knew it was, that's why I covered it up." He also told me that the panel was just welded in the corners, then just leaded in the rest.

    We chiseled the seam apart.

And cut the tacks and corners.

The sides featured 5 spot welds, then the rest was just lead.

And off it went!! Amazing moment, that I will never ever forget!!

Still intact, with striping and everything!

The Von Dutch signature was sooooo small!

    Same was the Jeffries signature.

When I called George to tell about that I took the panel off, he was stoked! He was watching a Western movie called Firecreek. He had a friend starring in that movie, Gary Lockwood. He told me that Gary was from Texas, but moved to San Bernardino when he was a kid. They were friends all the way from elementary.
