Agreed. Have a good rear view inside and leave the outside clean...

Not legal in this state or most others I have driven in. The young hyperactive state partrolmen here in this state will pull you over for no outside mirror or not having two mirrors all too quick. It isn't a matter if they will pull you over but when they will. One even pulled my daughter over in her OT car for not having an inside mirror in place and she kindly explained that the law read "must have two working mirrors and she had one on the drivers door and one on the passenger door.

Back to the mirrors. I've thought about using mirrors intended for Harleys or other motorcycles that have a design that blends in with a traditional build and either welding a nut into the door where I wanted the mirror or rigging access for a nut on the inside.

This is the best shot I can find at the moment. I'm using these tombstone style mirrors. They're 1950s Yankee aftermarket mirrors I found NOS in the original boxes. I think they work well.

I don't know of any state that requires you to install equipment on the car that it did not originally come with.

If they did, every old car would have to have seatbelts, side mirrors, turn signals, third brake light, etc, etc....

It's times like this, that holding onto those old magazines pays dividends.

Just go to ebay and type in "vintage mirrors" under ebay motors. Literally hundreds of ideas.

I always kind of liked the Talbot styled mirrors, bullet shaped much like spots and functional.
