Alan Shepard, center, navy test pilot and first American in space, getting his new '62 Corvette. Fuelie, judging by the small emblem under the flags.

Milner and McCord were promoting this new Matador for an event called "The World's Richest Demolition Derby" produced by J.C. Agajanian at the L.A. Coliseum in 1973. The derby cars were all brand-new or nearly-new vehicles including a Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow and a Continental MkIV, mostly being run by big-name racing drivers including the Unser brothers, Parnelli Jones and Mario Andretti. I remember seeing it on ABC's Wide World of Sports back then; this Matador wound up high-centered over a hay bale. The Rolls, driven by Bobby Unser, died early, then Bobby set it on fire after he got out. The winning car was a '73 Ford LTD coupe driven by derby driver Ken McCain of Fresno. The event was topped off by Evel Kneivel jumping over a pile of 50 cars, of course (it was the '70s, remember!)

Here's my late brother lettering my father's truck in June, 1950. The back of the picture says that it's a Chevy, but I'm not sure, does anyone know?

After Mom and Dad passed, I became the curiator of the family picture archive. Going through old family photos, came across this one. Not sure who these kids are, but at least one or two of them are from my mother's side when she was a kid. I think the little girl with her back to the camera is my mother. Absolutly love this picture. The pissed off little girl on the running board is priceless. [IMG]
