I have never read the rules of any "GASSER" class that it would have been legal in?

That's true. Engine setback was limited to 10% of the wheelbase (as I remember) and the seat location, itself, would have put it into a modified class, I would think.

Exactly. Seats could not be moved more than 4" from the original position. I'm not sure how well that was enforced or how long it stayed a rule.

This was a street car. I think it was in Car Craft mag in a street freak issue. It ran a Pontiac motor.

Ive got about 20-30 late 60s early 70s issues of car craft..just went thru them and came up with nothing..Google searched car craft street freaks and found Aug 1975 and Aug 1976 issues both have "street freaks" coverage written on the covers, any of you guys have those issues?could be there, but the car looks like an earlier build than that to me-the search continues

It would be cool if that thing was around! But I doubt it. Sometimes the more different a car is someone later on comes by and decides that it should be donated for parts for another car.

Your 55 came out great. That is a lot of work to do in just 6 months time. Nice work.

  19. My dad is a member here, but doesn't post a whole lot anymore so I'll throw some pics up of his 55... Car has been as quick as 10.80's pulling both wheels off the ground about a foot, but now sees more street time than strip time.

  25. I'm down in Uniontown Pa about 45 minutes south east of Pittsburgh, but my dad and the 55 is in Somerset County.

Thank you, I'll be sure to pass along the compliment to my dad... I personally think it has a great stance which makes the car.

Haha that would be cool, but there are some killer rides/pics posted up over in that thread!

Here is another pic of it doin' a smokey burnout

Some might remember this 55 project, I posted some construction shots during our early construction. I stopped due to our forthcoming article in Street Rodder, construction time was about 14 months.
