Projects 1956 Chevy (South East Gasser) "The Vagabond"

I'm digging this Eastwood bead roller. You need someone to crank it for you but for a first effort I'm fairly happy.



Gonna try and see how much of this tunnel I can get done tonight.

Some of the lines you see are my grease pencil. All I need to do now is weld in my rails to bolt it too and trim the edges.

Holy Crap Dude! This is awesome!! How have I missed this thread!! You should have sent me a link! I just spent an hour catching up on 10 pages!

You told me you wanted to run me but you left out the part that you wanted to do it with a car that is lighter, lower, more engine set back, and has almost 100 cubic inches on my junk?? I was born at night but it wasn't last night..

Nobody on this board besides you and me will get this but.... there is this new fangled way we can use shoe polish and even the odds. Then we can go 2 outta 3...

Shoot yeah man we can do that. I have watched you plenty on youtube so I know you can cut a light so best 2/3 shoe polish showdown would be a helluva matchup! Mine is gonna be an 1/8 mile only car though because that's damn near all they run here in Texas. Not sure what kinda rpms that gear would zing to in the 1/4. Once I get this shitbox together lets plan on setting some peoples hair on fire!

Oh my GAwwwWWDD nooooo!!! Would you believe that I hauled my T to Edmonds, Washington to make the trade??! That's a 36 hour trip one way and I went up and back in 4 days. But Texas to Winnipeg?......oh baby!

I know of several cars I would love to run though....how about you Saxxon? What cars make your match race bucket list?

 

Made the leap and bought a tig and plasma cutter from Eastwood last night. They have a deal going on right now that was too good to pass up. Think it will really help with the headers,cage and ladder bars. Can't wait to start practicing on my scrap!

So far as the gasser war me and a buddy have been kicking some ideas around that might turn into something kinda cool. I'm kinda putting the cart before the horse but it keeps me motivated.

Almost finished with the tunnel...that is if the tranny clears...going to tack weld nuts on then flat black it and call it done.

I know this isn't much of a picture but replacing body bushings doesn't present many photo ops. Managed to pull and replace all of them today. Only had two break off and so I had to cut a couple of holes in the floor and torch out the cage nut. Oh and I also managed to pour gas all over my crotch while removing the fuel cell...damn that sucked!

Ahh the ole gas crotch. Years ago, I had a 3/4 ton 4x4 Suburban. I had left my girl friends house about 1am, and about 5 miles into my 15-20 mile drive, I needed to stop and fill up. When I went to pull the fuel nozzle out of the fill tube, the sucker had some kind of super grip going. I pulled really hard about three times, and the thing came loose "sshlopp", and it sucked a wave of gas out right into my crotch, and I was wearing shorts! My girl friend still lived with here parents so I had to drive the rest of the way home. I looked pretty funny at the gas station standing there at 1am using the radiator fill hose to wash my shorts & stones!
