The original 'Trunk Monkey'?

 

You're pretty close on your history of the Kurtis Sport T-Head, but this is the actual car that Frank Kurtis built (out of a wrecked '41 Buick) and drove to Indy in 1948 that received much aclaim and inspired Frank to create the Kurtis Sport, and what would eventually become the Muntz Jet in 1950.
